The Scifi miniseries on the other hand I thought was wonderful (especially Children of Dune, with that kickass Brian Tyler soundtrack), and improved some of the book's flaws in my view. That said, I'm all for a big budget LOTR treatment of science fiction's most acclaimed novel. I just don't think Peter Berg is the director who can deliver on that promise. Nothing in his resume convinces me that he can achieve the same type of artistic and commercial success that Peter Jackson has. How to make an adaptation of a classic 80's cartoon without it coming off like some Star Wars ripoff? Plus you have the pressure of being compared to the original Japanese series (Super Dimensional Fortress Macross) it was based on. The Alec Baldwin film was flawed to be sure, but it did have it's good moments (particularly  w/ the Shadow's origin and the display of his powers), but this new film better get it right. At first I thought this was some lame way to rip off Terry Gilliam's The Brother's Grimm, but then I found out it was an actual book series. Hmmm... could be good. But let's have a children's fantasy flick of the quality of Narnia and Spiderwick (need to watch this) and not The Golden Compass (so dissapointing).I'm a big fan of Sam Fisher and his games. And unlike most videogames, he had the fortune of having Tom Clancy (a name sure to attract some A-list Hollywood talent) being involved. So this could go either way, but early rumors of wanting to cast a young actor in the role of Sam Fisher have me worried.Whoa. Been quite a while since I saw The Last Starfighter, but this is intriguing to say the least. I'll reserve judgement if and when this comes out.The original was already awesome, why remake it? :\ Uhm... no. I liked Voltron as a kid, but I can't see how you can make this and not be compared to the Power Rangers.</blockquote>
