mundane Treasure for 8th Level Chars

Our DM let us fill up a d20 Table with a few Character fitting Magic Items and the rest with mundane Things (or minor magical Consumables).

The magic Items and Consumables are simple, but I have no clue what mundane Equipment our 8th Level Characters could possibly want. Either they are so cheap that we can buy them without thinking twice or they are to big to just find in a Dungeon (a House, Mounts, etc.).

The only things I can come up with are Sacks of Gold ;)

Any good tips for our Treasure Table?

Let's see ....

(if you play 4e) then ritual components (i.e. Incense bundles that act as religion ritual components, etc); though you might be counting that as consumables.

Beyond that, stuff you probably already have covered: potions, elixirs, those reagent consumables that boost powers (like that one thing that increases fire damage if you use a fire-based attack, etc for all the different damage types)

how about stuff that could be potential plot hooks for side-quests...
- signent ring from a barony a couple weeks away
- a love letter from the current queen to a man who is not her husband ...
- a treasure map! (or more precisely, a map to a lair, or stash, or 'something')
- a small idol/statue that might have significance (or value) at the local temple
- a griffon egg (or dragon egg, or less massive) - but something you might be able to raise, or give to someone else to raise for you, and then revisit it later on when it's fully grown
- a stone with a series of runes carved in it (using those runes in a teleportation circle will cause the circle to teleport you to that particular destination) ...

(okay, so i haven't slept -- my ideas are all over the place and not necessarily what you're asking for :) )

In the good old days, around 9th level was "name" level, and you'd get cool stuff like strongholds and followers at that point.

So, how about a manor house. Maybe not the orchards around it, that will come later.

A servant. Just a peon henchman who follows your wishes at court, or runs messages or errands.

A caravel or tug boat.

A champion stallion.

A bronze memorial statue in the center of town.

A large tapestry depicting part of a local epic story.

Do you want smaller stuff?

* a painting or statue of an important person (living or dead) that could be worht money or even just a bargaining chip

* (for the sheer freak out value alone, but it can only be used once) a painting of the PCs at some event/battle that they were at before... but who in the heck knew about it or painted it?

* (along the same lines as above) a painting of the PCs at some event that they've never seen before... is it a prophecy? is it just an artistic drawing? do the PCs travel to the past? and who the heck painted it and why?! :)

* a nonmagical necklace or braclet with slots for different gems. while it has no special powers, a completionist might just enjoy tracking down gems to put in the slots

* a journal from a deceased scholar talking about some place/event/person

* (if 4e) a book with rituals that a ritual caster in the party could master

Put the big stuff on there too, you don't have to be in a dungeon all the time.
Anyway:

An almanac that correctly predicts the weather for the next 100 years.
A stuffed Dire Bear.
A skin rug from some magical creature that is not known for having it's skin made into armor.
An ooze in a bottle. (Feed it things and watch it change color!)

I better stop before I just recreate a magical petting zoo and taxidermy shop.
