He grinned at her in an attempt to hide his embarrassment, though whether he was refering to apologizing or asking her out was anybody's guess.  As they entered the cafeteria, they found it fairly packed, as it had been for a while.  Most of the students didn't really know where to go, and many wanted to gossip about what was happening/going to happen.  The general atmosphere was a mixture of fear and excitement.  The two of them waited in line a few minutes before grabbing their food and looking around for a table.
