I'm sure this thread has been posted to death in the past - but hey, I only read once a day, so I miss things :D What are people's preferences for music during game sessions? None at all? A cd? Some mp3's? Who gets to choose? I've personally done all of the above, with the either the DM deciding or highest roll choosing next cd (with last winner sitting out next roll). Personally I prefer mp3's and have amassed over 500 files (close to 2 gigabytes worth) sorted by relative mood or feel. But I've found not all players like the music. While I think it adds flavor, some players hate it, or ask for it to be turned down to near nothingness. Plus mp3's have the problem of non-universal playability. Computer speakers generally don't cut it at low volumes - not when the goal is a mood effect. While we're at it - anyone have any great suggestions for music to pick up? I saw a thread a little earlier about creepy music (with some great suggestions btw) - but I would like to expand that to all types of music. For my preferences: I like ambient music, words are simply too distracting. I organize by the Great Wheel - each plane getting its own play list (helps when my games go planehopping too) as the feel of the list can be plugged into most any situation. I have a variety of classical, video game music, movie soundtracks, ambient groups, renaissance groups, nature sounds and various other music. Anyways - thoughts? Comments?
