Message: <blockquote data-quote="d12" data-source="post: 921747" data-attributes="member: 657">Well, its my PC and the DM has expressed no concern about it at all.  The only reason I bring it up is that I've seen objections to it on the boards and I want to try to understand those objections.No, I haven't taken spell focus: divination.  My character is currently 5th level (human) and my feats are: Improved Inititive, Spellcasting Prodigy, Spell Focus Evocation, and Extend Spell.  The in-character reasoning goes something like this.  My character was a very intelligent boy and wanted to learn as much as possible through magic.  So, he became a diviner.  Then, after many years of study, he decided that he needed to get out of the library and get some field experience - go digging through old tombs to find old tomes, that sort of thing.  So, he became an adventurer.  Now, those extra divination spells each day really help out in the field - things like detect thoughts, detect secret doors and comprehend language have all been used many times.  But, those nasty goblins and ghouls just keep coming in bigger and bigger waves.   It sure would be handy if the bookworm could get better at blowing them into tiny flaming bits so they'll stop shooting so many arrows into him.  So, he practices fireball alot.  Gets really good at casting it.  Now, stuff blows up better, he doesn't get stuck by so many arrows, and he lives to read more tomes in more tombs.So1. There's no rule against this sort of class/feat combination2. I've got an in-character reason3. There's much better ways to min-max if that was my only intentOkay, now pounce on me!
