My first adventure was "Keep on the Bordelands ". I played AD&D until 2nd edition was released. I moved onto many other RPGs.Seeing Jonathan Tweets name as a designer on 3rd edition brought me back to D&D (Iam a big for of Ars Magica). I made the switch to 3.5. I tried a lot of third part products. I think I enjoyed Monte Cooks AU setting the most. In 2006, after Origin's, I just started getting burned out on D&D. I moved onto Savage Worlds, and have been really enjoying it. When 4th edition was announced, I was one who felt that Wizards was just going after my wallet. Hearing that there wasn't going to be a conversion document really upset me. Having over $3,000 in WotC products for 3.x on my bookshelf just made me feel frustrated and betrayed. Please note that I am not saying Wizards betrayed anyone, just expressing how I felt.I was determined to have nothing to do with the new edition. after all, I found another system I am happy with. If I wanted to play D&D, I have more 3.x products than I'll ever use.People I trusted started telling me they were hearing good things about 4th edition. The demo day at the local store had a ton of people show up. Everybody I talked to found positive things to say.So, tonight we started playing KoTS , using the quick start rules. We had fun. all the players are D&D veterans, all over 30 years of age. The general feeling was that 4th edition did not feel like 3rd at all. One player made the comment that "it feels like Warcraft".I liked the way the new system keeps everyone in the game. The game also seemed to reward team work more directly than 3.x. Everyone seemed to like powers a lot. Though, it seemed that during combat, everyone used a power every round. Listening to the game seemed odd , a little like a Final Fantasy game, where ever attack is a special ability. Healing surges are so different that it will take a while for me to get used to. I had fun. Enough fun that I am looking forward to reading the full rules; which is something I didn't think I would ever want to do.</blockquote>
