I do not know if this will be a compromise for some or if anyone will like the idea but here it goes. This would replace the current Hit Dice mechanic we have presented in this version of the playtest. I would like to tie healing directly into Constitution. I think it can give the people that want the ability to heal without magic something and those that wish to have healing be somewhat more realistic as well. First I think that there should be 3 types of rest available: Extended Rest = 8 hrs of sleep (Once per 24 hr period) Long Rest = 1 hr of rest (Once per 24 hr period) Short Rest = 10 min of rest (twice per 24 hr period) Always assume the following when looking at this: All healing except where noted requires that you must have at least 1 hp to benefit from the rest type you use. All math rounds down. All types of Rest give a minimum of 1 hp. All of the rest types assume that you used a healing kit or its equivalent at some point during that rest. ****************************************************************************************************************** Extended Rest = Regain 1.5 times your Con score in healing at the end of the Extended Rest. (Exception: If you are at 0 hps or below when you take an Extended Rest you regain 1/2 your Con score in healing at the end of the Extended Rest) Long Rest = Regain 1/2 your Con score in healing at the end of the Long Rest. Short Rest = Regain 1/4 your Con score in healing at the end of the Short Rest. Since some people do not like do to math they could easily include a set of rows under the Constitution heading: ER/LR/SR and then put the numbers under it accordingly. I think that this could be integrated into some things like the Clerics "Healing Word". I am not going to provide the fluff for it but in essence it would be that when the Cleric uses their "Healing Word" power on a Target that Target would regain hps as if they took a Short Rest. Basically it is the Cleric calling upon their god to assist the natural healing abilities of the Target. I was envisioning a Hospitaler Theme that would have a power/trait etc that allows the Hospitaler to spend time with a Target during an Extended Rest and allow the Target to regain extra hps based off the Hospitalers Wisdom Bonus. Something along the lines of the Hospitaler spending the Extended Rest tending to the Target via prary and/or meditation etc.
