My Name is Earl - Anyone check it out?

It's got Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee, two Kevin Smith film vets. I'm a big Lee fan so watching this show was pretty much a given for me.

Seemed liked they showed most of the really funny parts in the previews/extended trailers. But almost all those moments were from the first ep so I'm hoping there is much more to come. I did like it and found it pretty funny and refreshing. I hope the writers don't hold back a really put Earl to test of finishing his List.

The only drawback is that now we won't see Lee in many Smith parts if the show stays on the air.

It was about what I expected. Reasonably entertaining, but the kind of show that's going to be funny because of the characters and not the gags, so I wasn't expecting hilarity right out of the gate. It will be hard to write for the Earl character, keeping him balanced between being and jerk and a good guy. Nice to see something other than another dumb-dad family sitcom, though, which means it's probably doomed.

The shooting schedule for most sitcoms isn't that bad, though, so even if it's successful I'm sure he'd be able to fit the occasional film into his schedule.

I found it fun, if not great.

I did feel that the episode didn't really feel 'complete', though. Like it needed an extra
fifteen minutes at the end.

I liked it well enough. Even laughed right out loud a couple times. I doubt it will catch on, though, because it's not formula sitcom. I hope I'm wrong. Jason Lee's "Earl" reminds me a bit of Nicholas Cage's character in "Raising Arizona", one of my favorite flicks.

I liked it. It made me laugh and reminded me of people I knew who are not that far off the Earl model. He is more a caricature of people I know though but that can be funny and endearing if done well.

I like his simple mans veiw of philosophy. I get the feeling that if Karma was explained to him he would never understand but he gets it only by looking at it from his veiw of life.

I think that it was only able to work because of Jason Lee's delivery. If there had been another actor doing the Earl character I highly doubt that I would have enjoyed it as much as I did.

I liked it a lot and laughed out loud several times, mostly because of Jason Lee. I thought he did a great job.

Some laugh out loud lines:
"Well, I wanted a legitimate child and a Thanksgiving free of huffing paint and I didn't get neither."

"There's nothing like 15 beers, a little enlightment, and Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock. " Or something like that.

I did think it felt a little rushed, though.

And if I'm damn lucky, I won't see any more Kevin Smith film for the next 24 months. :]

Hey! Isn't that the Rubberband Man from OfficeMax?
