Here's my house ruled Polymorph Self/Other. Anyone think this is too powerful, not powerful enough, or just right? Opinions please!! ============================================== Polymorph Self Level: Sor/Wiz 4 Components: V,S,M Casting Time: 1 action Range: Medium (100' + 10' / level) Target: One Creature Duration: 1 hour/2 caster levels. (D) Saving Throw: Fortitude Negates Spell Resistance: Yes The character can take the form of another creature. During the course of the spell the spell caster can alter the form once, and one additional time per three caster levels (for example, a 9th level spellcaster could change form 4 times during the spell). Changing form is a full-round action. A spellcaster has a limited number of known forms. This is equal to their Knowledge (Nature) modifier (ranks+INT modifier+misc). When a spellcaster changes form, they regain 1d4+CON hit points. Any corporeal form may be assumed, so long as the size of the assumed form is no smaller than Diminutive, and no more than one size category larger than the caster's normal form. Only natural abilities of the assumed form are acquired by the subject of the spell. Natural abilities are any abilities not classified as extraordinary, supernatural or spell-like, and are not inherent as a result of type or class (the caster retains his own type and class). Mental ability scores (INT, WIS, CHA) do not change. Physical ability scores only change as a result of a change in size as noted below: New Size: STR* DEX* CON* Large +8 -2 +4 Small -4 +2 -2 Tiny -8 +4 -2 Diminutive -10 +6 -2 *minimum ability score: 1 The caster can freely choose secondary characteristics such as gender, race, apparent age, skin/hair/eye color, etc. Changes to equipment can alter their form, function, or damage. Upon casting the spell, the caster may choose to have any currenlty carried or worn equipment meld with your new form. Items melded in this fashion are non-functional, save for magic items with continuous affects. Items not melded that cannot be used by the new form are dropped. Weapons can be made larger or smaller to accommodate the caster’s new size. Weapons changed in this manner retain all their original properties save for damage die. If equipment, weapons, or any part of the caster’s body is separated from the caster, it immediately reverts to its original form. Extremely high movement rates (i.e. non-flying speeds above 60, flying speeds above 120) are not granted by Polymorph Self. If the character is slain while in this form, the character retains this form. If the character uses this spell to create a disguise, the character gets a +10 bonus on the character's Disguise check. Polymorph Other As Polymorph Self except: The subject of the spell gets a bonus to their saving throw (if not voluntarily failed) based on how radically different the new form is from their normal form. +1 per size category difference +1 for changing to a different type (humanoid to animal) Additional bonuses may be applied or ignored at the DM’s discretion.
