Fist of all, Advantage/Disadvantage. Awesome. Nuff said. I was shocked to see subraces as the first showcase. I fear another subrace bloat. I didn't like this. Themes and background really fit the bill by what WotC promised. The four roles of 4e is now in themes, and can now be taken to any class a.l.a. Healer Fighter, Slayer Rogue, Guardian Wizard, Lurker Cleric. I like it. The simplicity of the game's action economy is very good for novice and new players alike. I like it. The skill system is not anymore attached to a class, but to backgrounds. This opens up so many possible class concept: Soldier Rogue, Priest Fighter, COmmoner Wizard. I like it. The new weapons are cooler. No more needing to learn Melee Training to use Dex for melee. There is the Finesse Weapons. yes! I see a ranger with bow and a finess weapon effectively. There is also a ranged weapon exclusively for strength heroes. The heavy crossbow. I see a fighter with a greatsword and a heavy crossbow effectively. I like it. Mace, Hammer, and club are all the same weapon with different names, gold amount, and weight. Meh. Not so much liking it. Bastard sword is cooler. But i dont know why u should pick it in favor of longsword and greatsword. Familiar is cool with the touch attack. Damaging cantrips rock. at-will came back. i like this. i understand the difference between divine and arcane spell casting. just saying. dwaves and elves have immunity. a bit imbalanced. Low-light vision is even way better. Conditions are somewhat better, i think. Hit Die and the 'must' of healer's kit is logically cooler, but maybe gold taxing to players. But i'm always the DM. no problem. like it. Electrum Pieces. Weird. full Dex on light armor, half dex on medium, and no dex on heavy. This is cooler and easier. Two types of crossbow, one for Dex, and one for Strength! SO COOL! crossbows can now be reloaded and fired at the same action, but with disadvantage. cooler. I like caltrops. Resistance is half damage, while Vulnerability is double damage. Neat. I don't understand what a Cylinder area of effect is in spells. that's it.
