In preparation for my next campaign, I've been massaging through the Death and Dying variant in UA, and I believe that I've worked some of the issues that I have with it. I've attached the HTML file of this document, stripped of PI with an OGL declaration in a .ZIP archive. If this is an issue, I'll take it down, but I believe that I've added significant content to the variant. If I did not, I wouldn't post it. Design Notes First of all, it seemed wrong that a stablized character with the right Fortitude result could become fully operational, but a Disabled character could not. I've added an optional standard action which allows a disabled character to attempt to become fully operational with the risk of falling down to dying status if they do not succeed on the resultant save for taking a standard action. Secondly, while the treatment of saves against Massive Damage with this variant is excellent, I was disappointed that this variant does not address supernatural death effects , so I've added a section that addresses this, although I'm unsure that the Fortitude save DC I've included in this section is on par with what it should be. In the near future I'm going to address how magical healing functions with this variant. Since as written, magical healing seems too powerful with this variant, I plan to come up witha solution, with your help. Additionally, I will provide additional PI free examples. As far as feedback goes, I'm looking for help on how to clarify the wording of my take on this variant, as well as balancing the additions I've made to this variant. Anyone who contributes will be credited if they so wish.
