Short version---I wish there was a comprehensive digital game aid that included PC builder, combat management, campaign development and mapping. I wish it was 3.5/3.75 based. Long version---After being burned by CMP (they are around 4 years late on their digital game aid product) I find I am in a bit of a situation. I REALLY don't want to go 4e, but I am increasingly disheartened by how unwieldy high level 3.5 PC's are. Combat takes FOREVER (soo many options!!!), and there are some dynamics that don't work too well. I have really liked the Beta of Paizo's Pathfinder 3.75 revision---but I don't want to invest in it unless there is a good digitial game aide that works with it. Yes I know about PCGen. It is great that it is free, but it is a slow, unintuitive beast. Also---I invested heavily in CMP datasets for PCGen (WoTC/Forgotten Realms)---but I didn't update them to the latest version before CMP stopped supporting them. So now my CMP datasets will not work with current PCGen releases (which supports Paithfinder). So now I am sitting on my aging datasets, with an old version of PCGen, unable to make the jump to 3.75 (digitally anyway). What I want, what I have always wanted is a piece of software that incorporates the SRD, but is VERY easily customizable right from the GUI (rather than having to create my own datasets---which I have no interest in). That way I could grab one of my FR books and *whizbang* create the appropriate Prestige Class/Feat/Monster/NPC. I have tried one or two outside of PCGen, but I have not been impressed by any of them. I am still looking for a PC Builder that was as fun to use as the old Baldur's Gate interface (for leveling up and general PC maintenance). I have yet to find something as good and Baldur's Gate came out 10+ years ago!!! C'mon!!!
