Myth Merchant Press releases a re-tooling of the 3.5 SRD. Called SORD, this product re-organizes and streamlines the combat portion of the 3.5 line.

Steve Muchow of Myth Merchant Press states, "The richness and complexity of the 3.5 system is hampered by a haphazard presentation. It is well designed for presenting a rules set, but horrible to facilitate play. If a hero is climbing a rope and being attacked, the GM has to look everywhere in the SRD to get all the details he needs. That bogs down play of the high action that is underway. SORD eliminates this by creating one-page themes that are easily found and contain everything the game master needs to run the action. Rules never cross pages and step-by-step instructions are prominently displayed for actions like grapple, disarm, trip and sunder. By using SORD, you could easily shave 10-15 minutes of time from each encounter."

Taking up only 28 pages, SORD trims and organizes Combat, Special Attacks, Environmental Damage, Skills, Weapons and a host of other gameplay items from Initiative to Sundering and Breaking items. The compact document is extensively bookmarked and hyperlinked for digital use and is optimized for both color and black and white printing.

I posted a 4/5-star review of SORD earlier today. I think it's a great product, and only a few minor things kept me from giving it a full 5/5 rating.

I really think this is a great product for players and GM's to help minimize page-flipping and make combat go more quickly in their 3.5 game. :)

For a second there, I thought someone had resurrected the old "System of Role Development" vanity/homebrew fantasy RPG.

LOL, I have a printout of the old SORD and was chuckling about the name. But it hasn't been used in years and I couldn't resist all the puns I could make out of the acronym. I'm an old gamer, so I had to make my title kinda Traveller-esqe because of all the charts I have in the supplement. In fact, if you turn off the BLACKBG layer, you'll see the very blatant design ripoff! I almost pulled out an Optima Font, but I wasn't prepared to pay the 60 bucks. Maybe my next acronym will be ETUCS. If you know that one, then you are a real geek!

Care for a little consumer psychology insight?

I just clicked over, intending to pick this up just to check it out, saw the $5.00 price tag, and balked.

My gut tells me if you'd priced it at $4.95 you'd have made a sale.

FWIW.

I'm still not sure it's worth $4.95, but I probably wouldn't have had the reflexive response I did.

$3.95 is a guaranteed purchase.

You are a gentleman!
I love this hobby.... So many great people.
Just to all those readers out there. I have loved Bad Axe Games products for a long time and am thrilled that I even rate a comment or two from *Wulf*. I think his next release "Trailblazer" has some great promise and hope you check it out when it releases. I know I will!
