Myth20 Fantasy: Races (Half Elves) Myth20 Fantasy: Races (Half Elves) Half elves determine Intelligence and Dexterity by rolling 2d6 and adding 5. Half elves have a bonus to spot checks, but not has high a bonus as elves have. All other skill bonuses and penalties and traits depend on culture. A half elf is the product of mating between a human and an elf. Since lady elves are rare in the outside world most half elves have an elf for a father. A half elf is about as tall as a human. But they are somewhat slighter of build and lighter in weight. Overall they tend to fall between their respective parents in that area. Coloration tends to be that of the parents, if both parents have the same shade, or between them if the parents were of different coloration. A half elf tends to find human society 'distant'. Elven society tends to be hostile, unless the half elf was born into elven society, in which case elven society is 'distant'. While human communities will grudgingly allow a half elf inside, elf communities actively discourage it, and have been known to kill half elves that refuse to take a hint. Exceptions have been made for half elves that have performed an extraordinary service for an elven community. Though such exceptions are usually posthumous and involve burial in an elven cemetary. Half elves do not form communities of their own. Nor do they confine mating to their kind. More often they mate with humans, producing human children who sometimes have interesting traits and abilities. Elves just won't mate with half elves. Some think it odd, but half elves actually get on better with orcs and half orcs than they do other races. Orcs see half elves as fellow victims of persecution, so they'r e willing to accept half elves into their circles. Half orcs see half elves as a guide and introduction into human society, making the job of getting accepted much easier. While half elves tend to view orcs and half orcs with suspicion at first, it doesn't take long for most half elves to become comfortable with them. Half elves do not associate with dwarfs, unless they absolutely have to. (Again, sketchy. Much more to be said about half elves, but that needs to be worked out.)
