Mythic Races in SL

So is anyone using Fantasy Flight Games Mythic Races in the Scarred Lands setting?

Curst: I've had them retake a few of the fallent forts in the Northern Proctoreate that Mitrhil once ruled over but few are aware of their presence so far.

So far, the Quissians haven't changed. They're pretty much the same race.

The Pevishan's lost their god when the god of magic was killed and they wander about in small groups.

The Luminious are the same with most of them being in Mithril and worshipping Corean. I've made them 'cousins' to the race of light beings from the Races of Evermore vol. 1.

Risen Demons are pretty much the same.

Stoen Grunts: Mostly the same but serve the dwarves of Burok Torn.

Uthuk Y'llan turned to Bellsamath to save them.

Vermen are pretty much the same.

Any thoughts on how the races fit into your own campaigns?

i am considering running a campaign set shortly before and then during the divine war. races from this book may make appearances before and during the war but i plan to have most of them if not all killed off by the end of it. i want to introduce my characters to the scarred lands with a really big bang. the one problem i have with the idea is that it's awful hard to top that in later games.

Actually it shouldn't be THAT hard Jolly. What I'd suggest, is you try to have descendents of those missing races (perhaps maybe an Incarnate or two?) try to stop a raising of a Titan they defeated BUT they end up helping instead BECAUSE they need the blood of that particular person to help with the raising.

I own both books but haven't been in a game for over a year now so I can't say I'm actually using them. However I do enjoy both books even though Mythic Races can be a bit repetitive at times.

The Pevishan are probably my favorite in the book. Very original in my opinion. I hope to include them in whatever campaign I play in next.

The Illonis and the Luminous are also very interesting. They seem tailor made for Bards and Clerics.

Oathbound for Bastion Press has some very interesting races that I'm also going to try to adapt to my game. Worth a look.

In the end I am hesitant to add too many races to the list of PC (or even NPC) choices. After a while it can get a little cheesy IMO. Unless of course you are going for something like that. I keep thinking of Perdido Street Station with all it's strange creatures and it's Steampunk setting. That might be cool.
