Kenji bows slowly. "I will do as much as I can to get them to go there. I will keep them from killing the rascal and send him on his way." Kenji looks outside, "You sure they are worth tailing? Nevermind you are the boss. I guess I will go out with you and meet them. What is their language of choice? Common?"

"They seem to speak Common. Come along." Lao escorts Kenji to the front porch, and offers introductions between the new arrival and the travelers. "This is the one who can guide you."

In common Kenji begins with a bow, "Hello fine gentleman, I will be your guide to the fountain. If there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to ask me. Is common your preferred language or do you have another that is more soothing to your ear."

"Kenji has prepared for a journey, so he could even assist you on the roads out of the city for as long as your paths run together. Here, Kenji, is the offering that my sister prepared for you to leave to Ten-min. May the spirits bless you on your travels, and fortune greet you when you reach your destination," he finishes, bowing to the small group.

The inebriated swordsman pauses, then says carefully "It is an honor, but I believe I shall purchase one of your fine offerings first, that I might not do offense to the spirits. It is only appropriate.

Lao-ping haggles with the swordsman briefly over the price, but soon an agreement is struck and the deal is made. Ryo comes back out onto the porch with a delicate animal figurine, his purse lighter by a few coins, admiring the hand-crafted details carved into the wood. With nothing else keeping them here, they begin the trek towards market.

As they near the market, the shops begin to get more flashy, as to catch the eyes of travelers. One in particular, "Jai-sek's Emporium of Delights", had three korbokuru women dressed in the extravagent fashions of the eastern cities. Ryo, though certainly no expert on such things, could recognize that they were years out of date from the current styles that he had seen before his flight west. A kor in similarly outdated men's fashion greets those who passed in the street, beckoning them to come see the wonders waiting for them within. As he speaks, he opens and closes a sliding door on the porch, which reveals a different spectale each time, which include huge stuffed monstrosites and people with freakish abnormalities.

Kenji can only roll his eyes, as he's heard this pitch a thousand times before.

The trio avoid the heavy foot traffic and make their way to the town square. The bustle of trade surrounds the fountain, a circular stone construction with three tiers and two corresponding waterfalls. As they approach, some locals are taking their time to make offerings, chanting mantras or lighting incense to be left at the base, while others hastily drop a morsel of food into the bottom tier without breaking their stride. Waves appear as the surface is broken by the mouths of fat fish, greedily snapping up the gifts, and some would say the prayers that were offered with them. Korobokuru traders circle throughout the square, hawking offerings much like the one Ryo bought. According to the prices that they shout to him in accented Common, he appears to have bargained fairly well.

Li takes to walking slowly around the fountain, holding up his begging bowl and quietly meditating while trying to attain a fitting offering.

After a few minutes of making offering, Kenji spots the young thief approaching Ryo, just as Lao-ping suggested. He made a few obscure gestures, asking in code to confirm the target. Kenji briefly signaled that the swordsman was indeed the one to be robbed.

As the boy reached out for Ryo's coinpurse -- the one he'd seen him grab to pay for the offering -- Kenji had to finish off the con: to stop the thief, and so gain their confidence, but still manage to let the cutpurse escape.
