presenting them again in case you didn't see them before...

“Tree-folk” are a race of herbivorous humanoids that live in deep forests. They resemble a cross between sloths and great apes, and are covered in thick fur of deep blue, indigo, or even black. Their shiny eyes are black, and hide the silent intelligence therein.

These tree-folk spend most of their days hanging from trees and singing in their weird hooting language, leading other races to think of them as lazy and stupid. These are a nocturnal people, however, and are very active at night. Their society is actually very complex, and they have shelters and other nonstandard structures built high into trees and well hidden.

Tree-folk are amazingly apt towards intelligence, charisma, and dexterity. Their beautiful singing ability makes them naturals as bards, but they like to become classes that require study, including wizards, clerics, and monks. Rangers are also not uncommon.

Tree-folk have their own language, but nearly all of them know Common, and many know Elf, Gnome, and Goblin as well. The wizards of the tree-folk have developed a system of writing that involves weaving their own hair into yarn, and making intricate knots and patterns that replicate normal and magical writing.

A “Tree-folk’s” favored class is bard; treefolk leaders are usually bards or bard/wizards. Clerics can choose from the Good, Healing, Luck, or Protection domains.

I can't decide but I would not use tree-singers what I would do is make that a nickname for them...humans call them XXXXX AKA "Singers in the trees", or "Tree Singers"
If you have the elf Dragon Mag see if you can make a cool name with their dictionary from the issue.

How about the Ulraan? (ool-ron)

This could be a personal race name.
Perhaps their history and culture is shrouded in mystery. The reason for their infrequent sojourns back and forth from their ancestral home, a misty rain forest, is unknown.

To common folk they are regarded as "the singers for the trees"; a simple, if peculiar folk, who are shy and speak infrequently. Often they seem like animals, but when they sing, those who hear feel a certain transcendence to an ageless wisdom before mankind.

Besides a specialized 'peformance' class bard, I would add a shaman-class that often times work with druids. (and whatever other clan roles seem appropriate)

actually hal, that's what i was thinking. :)

How about using other languages for inspiration?

Canthoja

Cant is a latin derivative for song. Hoja is the Spanish word for leaf.

I tried to use German... but I couldn't find anything that I liked, except...

Baumari

which incorporates the German word for tree (baum).

As far as the names in the list... I like Uakari and Uoro.
