Names for creatures of an "Alien" race

Hi all,

I need help with the naming of a race of "Alien" style creatures. If any of you play Warhammer 40k I am trying to rename the Tyranid creatures for a 3rd ed race. Listed below are the current names.

1. Hive Tyrant - would like to use the word "blade(s)" somewhere in the name
2. Tyrant Guard
3. Warriors - Most likely using "Mantis Warrior"
4. Genestealers
5. Raveners - snake like bodies
6. Carnifex - huge tank-like behemoth of a creature

I'd like to keep a theme for the names so if you can think of ones that go with Mantis Warrior it would be great.

Assuming a Hive structure centred around a Queen (All translated into english, because I don't want to make up klicking phonetic sounds ):

Hive Tyrant - Blade of the Mother
Tyrant Guard - Shield of the Blade
Warrior - Teeth of the Maw
Genestealers - Harvesters (or, grocery shoppers) couldn't resist
Raveners - Whip Tails
Carnifex - Devourers

You could also call the Queen "The Great Maw" as, if I am not mistaken, the Tyranids are all about eating/consuming everything in site. Hope these help as a starting point.

Thank you very much. This is the type of stuff I want to see. I would love some of you other creative types to give me some more choices but consider "Blade of the Mother" and "Shield of the Blade" most likely stolen. Though I do actually like the entire list I am going to wait and see if we get a few more responses.

Here's an idea

Saying they're an alien race implies that they are compeltely new to the world, correct? Maybe something the PCs will encounter for the first time, some new threat?

In that case, don't give them names. Let the characters name them based on your descriptions.

Well that's kinda what happened but it wasn't the PC's doing the naming. That's why I was looking for help...plus the PC's are about as lame as coming up with names as I am (some don't even have names for the character's yet).

Most of them don't have tentacles. Sharp teeth, talons, and claws yes...but tentacles ...no not really.

I just want to put in my vote (again) for Grocery Shoppers.

The reason I'm redoing this is that it is 3:30am, I have a paper to write (done 4000 words, only 1000 more to go *sob*) and I REALLY don't want to do it. What better way to "creativly use time" (wink wink) than ENWorld? NOTHING! That's what! mwah-hahahahaha

Sorry for the highly idiotic and OT nature of this post. However, it did allow me to blow off adequete amounts of steam to actually do more work. Again, ENWorld saves my GPA. Thank-you.
