Two of the most recognizable swords in my campaign world are: Oakenblade - an intelligent blade of elven craftsmanship dedicated to the destruction of the followers of the god of chaos. It has a long slim steel blade, engraved with vines and leaves. The crosspiece is decorated with bronze oak leaves, and the handle is wrapped in gold. al Nasham - or "the Black Blade" in the common tongue of my world. This unholy sword is dedicated to the destruction of the followers of the goddess of life and the overthrow of her church. Al Nasham, is, in its natural form, an ominous looking longsword. The blade was forged from an unknown black metal that seems to suck the light out of the air around it. Along the length of the blade, in the blood groove, is a glowing red inscription that calls for death to the goddess of life. A red rose decorates the silver crosspiece on either side of the sword, trailing its thorns along the length of the crosspiece. The handle is made from the same metal as the blade, and is wrapped in red wire. The pommel is a silver orb, and is engraved with the same glowing red inscription as the blade. Some other names include Tilo's Talon - a sword used by a follower of the goddess of air; Takeshi's Fury - a kama created by the spirits of thunder and lightning - one can see thunderclouds and flashes of lightning in its blade; Icefang - an icy burst heirloom longbow; Ghostbane - a heavy mace dedicated to killing undead; and Grumbelly - an intelligent greatsword containing the spirit of the lizardman who once weilded it.
