[QUOTE="jasin, post: 2309165, member: 7531"] The Nar demonbinder is a PrC that grants spontaneous Cha-based spellcasting, specializes in dealing with demons, has a potent Cha-based special ability... ... and requires 10 ranks in knowledge (the planes), which is a cross class skill for sorcerers! Also, most of the "sign" abilities seem quite pointless. Iron sign serves as a calling diagram, which is nice. You can also use it to trap a free outsider as if you had called it with a full-round action, which can be really great. Brazen sign works "exaclty like the iron sign, except that the called creature cannot use its spell resistance". But a calling diagram already prevents the use of SR to escape the binding. Silver sign works "just like the brazen sign, except that the DC of the Charisma check for the called creature to escape increases by +5", which sounds nice, but is basically unnecessary, unless you're in the habit of calling Cha 30+ creatures, "and none of its attacks or abilities can exit the area within 5 feet of the token." A calling diagram already prevets the creature from attacking those outside it. Has planar binding changed significantly with the 3.0 to 3.5 change? Perhaps the no SR, no attacks outside the diagram thing was only added in 3.5, and that's why the demonbinder has it as a special ability? A shame really; I just hate getting useless abilities. In a way, it's worse than getting nothing at that level. Does anyone else feel it should be somewhat more sorcerer-friendly, and that the brazen and silver signs should be changed so they actually grant some meaningful bonus... after all, a Nar demonbinder takes quite a hit in raw spellcasting power in return for his demonbinding specialization. Otherwise, it's quite an interesting PrC to combine with a bard, despite the text stating that "bards and druids don't have access to the spells necessary" (wrongly, since you need 4th-level spells and knowledge of one summon monster, which is no problem for a bard). I'm imagining a drow girl, ostracized for being too flighty to become a priestess (Wis is a bard's dump stat, after all), who discoveres the secrets of old Narfell and comes back to her home town with more demons at her beck and call than many clerics...
