Narration: 100+ Ways To Use A Healing Surge *In-Character*

Forked from: Hit Points & Healing Surges Finally Explained!

Ah, the notorious Healing Surge. We all agree they are probably a good idea from a game mechanics point of view, but some of us think they are problematic from a narrative point of view. So let's help the Surge Fans out, and come up with a list of 100 (or more) ways for your character to say he/she is using a healing surge, while staying completely in character.

1. "I am a princess, so I will suck it up."

2. "Sir Bixby is too awesome to be wounded right now!"

3. "'Tis but a scratch! I've had worse. Come on, ya pansy!"

4. "I draw within my own inner reserves of fortitude and resiliance, and pull forth the will to go forward and into battle once more."

5. "Injured? Nay, these wounds are but an abstraction. See?" *pOoF!*

6. "What wounds?"

7. "I decide to not have an arrow sticking out of my ribs."

8. "I am Batman."

9. "I bandage my wounds as best I can with scraps of cloth from my shirt, and meditate for a few minutes to calm my heartbeat and diminish the pain."

10. "I could have sworn that orc's axe hit me square in the shoulder. Guess I got lucky."

(Come on, it's fun! Both snarky and serious responses are welcome, but with two caveats: keep them polite, and keep them in character!)

16. <Bolo (Bloodsport) rubs his jaw, cracks his neck, shakes a finger side to side, and then wades back into the fight.>
