Morrus says the book will be out within the next few days., so I'm posting a character I made up from my super-secert playtest preview copy.

Let me just say the book rocks. I present to you, Guardian,

Gaurdian; Male Human (mutant) Hero6/Fighter4; CR10; Meduim-Sized Humaniod; Init +3; AC: 13 (flatfooted 10, touch 13); Spd 30 feet, 30 Fly (average); Hit Dice 6d4+4d10 (57hp); Atk + 7 melee (1d3+1, subdual, unarmed), +10 ranged ( ); SV Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +3; AL CG; Str 13, Dex 16, Con 10, Int 14, Wis 12, Cha 8.

Hero Abilities:
Flight (Pw): (7 HrP) Large powerful wings sprout from Gaurdians back allowing him to fly at a speed of 30 feet with average manuverablity. Gaurdian must have 2 adjacent 5-feet squares free, in which to unfold and flap his wings.

Attack, Energy (Radiance) (Pw): (13 HrP) Guardian can fire destructive radient energy from his hand. As a standard action he can emit a 5-foot wide line 200 ft long that deals 4d6 fire damage to anything in it's path. This line can be shaped to avoid and single 5-foot square along its path. A successful reflex save with a DC16 is allowed for half damage. Gaurdian can also choose to fire for less damage, or fire a ray (200 ft range, ranged touch) that doesn't allow a save.

Clairsentience (Pw): (2 HrP) Guardian can shift his sences to a location remote to himself. By concentrating on a familiar locale (must be on the same plane), he can fully see, hear, smell, taste, and feel the enviroment there. He can move his sences around the location, and look in any direction, but cannot affect anything there, either by action or superpower. He can only use this power once per day.

Self-Subsistent (Pw): (4 HrP) Guardian never needs to eat, drink or breath.

Sheild (Pw): (24 HrP) Guardian can create a sheild of transperent force in a 15-foot diameter around himself. No attacks can be made across the sheild. All damaging bursts and eminations are blocked as well as all other damage. The sheild also blocks line of sight for the purposes of magical effects. As a readied action Guardian can deflect back any attack or spell blocked by the sheild. If the attack requires an attack roll Guardian must make an attack roll for the new target, but if the attack blocked is an area-effect he can simply choose a new area.

Skills: Climb +8 (7), Craft (Weapon) +9 (7), Jump +8 (7), Swim +8 (7)

Feats: Point Blank Shot, Fly-by Attack, Weapon Focus (ray), Shape Energy Blasts, Sheilded Deflection

DarwinofMind, I'm thrilled that you're posting a little teaser from our book, but sadly, I've gotta point out one rather important error.

To help assure balance, you're not allowed to have more Hero Points in a single power than your total character level + 3. This prevents things like 1st level characters who can fire 3d6 damage energy blasts every round; he has enough Hero Points to afford it, but it goes above his level-based limit. Thus, that shield is too high-powered for a 10th level character.

Everything else looks fine, though, so you seem to have grasped the rules nicely. I'm glad to see that overall they are easy to get used to. If anyone has requests for super-powered characters, I'll see if I can show off some of the rules a bit and post them.

Ahhh, I knew I'd mess something up...

I was so impressed with the sheild power and how well it fit the Character concept, that I started striping out other powers and pilling the points into sheild, forgetting all about he the max ranks.

Darn, Really made Guardian into a real Guardian though didn't it.

Well, with a limit of 13 HrPs on the power, you can still at least get the base power, plus either the Full Shield or Mobile Shield enhancement. You could get both enhancements if you were willing to take a minor restriction of some sort.

But hey, it's a cool character idea. Russ and I are hoping that, if 4C2F (Four-Color to Fantasy) is well-received, we could have a submissions contest for people to contribute new super powers and sample characters to sort of a sequel book. We'll gladly take the Guardian if you're willing, . . . and as long as he's not already a copyrighted character I'm unaware of.

A few other villains we were thinking of are:

Madame Molasses - an elderly lady with a powerful gadget (her car) that causes everyone within 100 feet to have to move at a crawl. And of course, her gadget makes her invincible as long as she's inside it, plus she has amazing powers to convince police officers that she's wholly innocent of any wrecks she's in, and that the young people are to blame. However, her powers don't work on people older than her.

Boobchick & Package Man - (thanks to Ashtal for the second member of this superheroic couple). A mild parody at the expense of traditional comic women.

The Telemarketer - he has amazing powers to find and call any phone near you, so he can always pester you, at any time of the day or night.

As far as I know Guardian is wholy my creation. I'll fix the problem and complete his write up with his background and everything and then sure you can use him.

I've got a few more things in my head but not sure how much Russ is willing to let me post and how much teaser the peasants will take before they revolt. :)

Guardian fixed, Feel free to submit him.

Background: Guardian, born William Donaldson, was seemingly a normal healthy baby boy. He was a quiet child often lost in daydream. At school, he became somewhat of a protector of smaller children. Rarely would he speak or get involved in anything on his own behalf, but quick to rush to the aid of others. Teachers said he was a troublemaker, they said he was autistic, they said he was simply a problem. William said nothing. Upon reaching puberty, William began to grow feathers on his back, he kept this a secret as long as he could but as the feathers transformed into a 20 foot wingspan over the next few months, his secret was out. Docters ran many kinds of test but he seemed completely normal. Normal except for the wings. William who had always been the guardian of other victums now became the victim of assult and mockery himself. He tried to take it without striking back, but when another child was injured rushing to his aid, he had enough. Slamming his fist into the ground a wave of fire rushed forward burning the attacker severely. Knowing he would be in trouble now, William took to the air and ran away. Hiding on the streets, a 14 year old boy fightened and alone, William found a freind, a somewhat unstable freind but you take what you can get. A homeless man calling himself Harvey, told William that he was an angel, those wings are proof he said. He worshiped William and instructed him to find a sword and to do what came natural to him. Fight the forces of evil. Taken on the name of Guardian, he defends the defensless, sometimes her really believes that he is an angel, other times he's not so sure. After 7 years on the streets doing this he has really lost all connection with the normal world. Harvey disappear 2 years ago presumably dead. Guardian discovered his sheild ability pretty early in his quest, and uses it to his advantage often. When he became buried in a collapsed building he discovered that although he sometimes feels hunger or thirst, he does not require food or water, and although breathing is a habit the air is not required either. In fact, he hasn't sleep in 3 years either. All of these things go further to convincing William that he is an angel.
