Nature and Demeanor for d20/Prometheus games

I'm of the opinion that the reason alingment leads to bad roleplaying isn't because characters cannot be evenly placed in one of alingment's nine boxes, but because there is more to a character than their alingment, class, and race can describe.

To help fix this end, I've thrown together "Nature" and "Demanor" rules for d20 games. Here's what I have so far:

NATURE
A character’s nature is a one-word description as to how they really are. It has to be an adjective that describes a quality that can only be born out by a character’s actions, and not something that can be discovered simply by talking with a character. It’s their “true worth.”

Sample natures include: Brave, Cowardly, Decadent, Devious, Loyal, Selfish, Steadfast, and, (with the DM’s permission), “Good” or “Evil.” When speaking about a character, it should be grammatically correct to say “they have a __ nature”.

DEMEANOR
A character’s demeanor is a one-word description of how they seem to be. It has to be an adjective that describes a quality that other characters often apply to the character when they meet him for the first time, and not something that is only discovered through time and trial. It’s their “face value.”

Sample demeanors include: Friendly, Meek, Odd, Powerful, Quiet, Rude, and Sultry. When speaking about a character, it should be grammatically correct to say “they have a __ demeanor”.

What the system could use are fleshed out descriptions of samle natures and demeanors, and perhaps some game-rule aspect that derives from them.
