Anybody know how well Seas of Blood and Seafarer's Handbook are competing? Seas of Blood was out first and has three supplements to support it (I also liked it better than SFH, but not enough to actually buy it, as I don't tend to run extended nautical campaigns).

How many competing nautical products does the d20 community need? The answer is, as many it will support, but I just don't see the need for so many competing products in the same niche category. The one that comes out first will probably sell the best, then the second, and then we have things like Skull & Bones and Broadsides! that may never come out.

I would think the nautical market is glutted. Even an amazing nautical sourcebook would probably fare poorly at this point, as everyone who was interested already bought either Seas of Blood or SFH.

Opinions?

I own seas of blood,Seafarer's handbook All 3 ships products and I intend to buy the other two when they are released.I also own the twin crowns book which has a large section on Sea travel.

Seas of blood and Seafarer's handbook both cover different topic's and have obiously different spells and prestige classes so its worth it to buy both.

By the way your poll won't let you vote for more than one.So it not accurate

Skull & Bones looks to be a bit different from the others. It has a higher tech level than the others - gunpowder, the golden age of sail, etc. From what I gather it will have a "real" world Caribbean Setting and rules on Voodoo magic. Unless I am mistaken the scope will be quite different from the other books - more of a competition with AEG's upcoming Pirates & Musketeers I imagine. I'm really looking forward to seeing Skull & Bones but for different reasons than Seafarer's, Seas of Blood, and Broadsides (which I believe will cover a wide range of historical periods, up to and including gun powder).
