A few weeks ago I stumbled upon what I think is a fairly awesome site, at least as far as networking with gamers goes.
NearbyGamers
This site is like a combination Networking, Tagging, Wiki site for gamers of all kinds. Console, Pen and Paper, War Game, Collectable Card, Miniature, whatever.
It has an integrated map function where you list your general or specific location. So when you look up a certain tag, it maps where all the gamers are for that tag relative to your location. Its pretty awesome, though to be good it kinda needs to grow.
In any case, It also needs user participation to properly tag and edit all the games and what not.
When it comes to posting your location, my recommendation is to use a street intersection within a mile of your address so you don't give up your privacy, but so that it still remains somewhat accurate. Once I'm done posting this here I'm gonna go ahead and add an EnWorld tag to my profile (which creates one on the site). I'll leave it to one of you other Enworlders to describe Enworld under its tag since I haven't been posting much the last year or so.
Oh, You might ask if this site is just for the US. Its not. It works world wide. However, its map system is based on Google Maps, which tends to work better for U.S. Locations. There have been some bugs with placing UK areas but I think its because they were only using city names instead of more specific locations.
Meh, first post in general in almost a year and I'm spamming...*sigh*.
See ya there.
