Need a background

My girldfriend is playing a half-elf druid and she needs an interresting background but can't find anything else that "T'was in the wood helping the dear" like.

I would apreciate if any of you could help us finding a better story for her druide. The mission is about ppl disapearing from almost everywhere (Pool of radiance) and we're about to try to find them.

Perhaps this:

Born of a union of between a human father and a elven mother, [insert girlfriend's name here] was raised by her mother, who was a woodsguide as well as devoote of Melikki. Her father, she saw rarely as he and her mother, while once in love, never married. He was more into battles and a follower of Tempus. He never mentioned where he was from, only that they had shared some good times. He only wrote a few letters, then stopped. Her mother and she think he's dead, as he was fighting in Amn, trying to help deal with the Sythllian Empire. [Insert name] grew to love nature and became a druidess. She cares for nature, as abhores both ugliness and unfaithfulness. She's very into her duties and yearns to bring balance to nature and goodness (if she's good.)

That's all I have so far.

Variation on a theme

I quite like Nightfall's idea, actually...

a slight variation would be:

the girl was raised by her father, a woodsman and warden (read ranger) of the local area... her mother could either have met an untimely demise or may well have left her child after birth (this could depend on the relationship between humans and elves) or she could even have just disappeared completely (explaining the girl's interest in aiding the search for others)...

with the mother absent, the girl's father carried her on his back during his patrols through the local lands until the girl was old enough to keep a decent pace herself... through her father, she learned of the many beauties and natural horrors of the wilderness and has always felt far more welcome amongst the trees than she has in a human city/town...

a local wise woman (adept?) saw the girl's potential as a channeler of nature's divine powers when she was in her early teens and helped guide her toward her destiny as one of nature's chosen...

I know some of it sounds a bit 'flowery', but we are talking about a druid here...
