...wow...

I mean, I've seen some great mini work in my time, from straight paint to kitbashing, but that is amazing.

I am in awe...

Some of the model ship builders, particlarly the wooden hull modellers, are obsessed. I have seen some that were built plank by plank (like this guy). Beautiful models, but taking years to complete. The guy has earned every penny he gets.

The Auld Grump

While I agree that it is an impressive piece of work, I think that he'll be lucky to get half of what he wants for it. Not many people are going to go get that 2nd mortgage to buy a model. I think the ship is going to prove extremely difficult to sell, unless Donald Trump shops eBay.

I've seen many of those wooden models in the past, and even considered it as a possible hobby for a while :p No doubt they are fantastic, and no doubt they take a long time and an extreme care and patience to build. But it doesn't strike me as odd that there are no bids yet. Not just because of the high price - 10k$ for a decorative furniture - but because the whole point of the hobby is in the building part, not in the finished ship ;)

...plus it's going to be a HUGE task to have the ship shipped ( :p ), I can barely imagine a more fragile object. I would only transport it by hand!

It's way too big for the standard miniature scale, I think. Most minis are about 1 inch high, or slightly taller. Say 1.125 inches high, which then translates to about 1:72 scale for a miniature, or maybe 1:64. Since the model ship is 10.5 feet long, it would translate into about 670 to 750 feet long.

Beautiful model, though.
