I've got a similar situation going on in my game right now. The Rogue in the party gave up his soul to an Erinyes (albeit for the greater good of the party) and now he's trying to get it back. He worked out a deal with her whereupon she obtained a "Sacrificial Dagger" for him and when he kills stuff with it (i.e. delivers the killing blow) those souls also become her property. When he sacrifices enough souls, he gets his own soul out of hock. Another PC in the party is a Lawful Neutral Cleric of St. Cuthbert. The player of this character knows what is going on but he's careful to keep that separate from character knowledge. The Rogue just makes sure to stay out of the way when the Cleric Detects Evil and keeps the dagger in a Glove of Storing. He's also recently discovered that the dagger is not a dagger at all. It's a Devil that's been shaped into a dagger. It is siphoning off part of each kill for its own purposes and is gaining power as time goes on. It has now told the Rogue that it can share some of these powers with him to make his job easier. All in all, tremendous fun roleplaying for everyone. Though it probably helps that nobody in the party is Good aligned (except for the NE Rogue, everybody else is some shade of Neutral).
