Need a weapon/magic item

I know I've seen this...

A magical weapon that is able to take on various forms, from a quarterstaff to longsword to axe to whatever. Each form does the same amount of damage.

However I can't track it down. I can probably wing it, but I'd prefer some stats. Does this thing sound familiar to anyone? And where is it described?

Isn't there an 'Everchanging Blade' in the book 'Underdark'?

I thought there was something similar in the A&EG as well, but I'm away from my books...

There are the bowstaff and changeling spear in A&EG. Neither are quite what I'm looking for. Don't have the underdark book, but that could be it. Thanks for the suggestions.

It definitely isn't the rod of lordly might, though that might be fun, I'm thinking that is a bit much for 9th level. Besides, they're already getting a rod of wonder....
