Need help coming up with a variant name for Cain

Hi everyone,

I'm a GM in an ongoing 3.5 campaign set in our version of the Forgotten Realms. One of my players decided to play a fighter-type with no memories of his past life. I decided to incorporate this into the campaign's current plot arc, and he is about to retrieve some memories of his former self.
In essence, he used to be a Netherese archmage who lost all his powers after being trapped by an imprisonment spell since roughly the Fall of Netheril (so, some 1700 years). Recently the goddess of magic terminated the spell, and he washed ashore with no memory of his past life (my take is that the gods try to interfere in mortal affairs, but attempt to do so as covertly as possible). His knowledge of the way magic worked before the fall of the mighty kingdom of wizards (Netheril) will prove invaluable in stopping the BBEG's plan.

The character is based around the concept of a gauntlet, which is fused to his hand, and which he can shapeshift into various weapons through concentration.

I need some help, however, in coming up with an actual name for the character. Having no memory of who he was, he chose the name Cain. I'd like his actual, former name to be related to this, hinting that he chose it subconsciently. Furthermore, it would allow everyone in the campaign to keep calling him the same thing, for the sake of our sanity at the table. The name should be intricate, of course, as befits a great mage. I'm really drawing a blank, though.

So far the only thing I've come up with was "qyn", which according to the Wikipedia article's etymology section means "metal smith". Given the character's schtick, it seems perfect to base the name around, but I really want something more complete... Any ideas? All input will be appreciated.

TL;DR version:
I need a pompous name that has a root sounding like "Cain", and is fitting to an arcane caster of long ago. Help me, ENWorlders, you are my only hope!

I would first pick a syllable that has a meaning you want to apply to the rest of the name. If -cain or -qyn means something related to metalsmith then what else was he famed for as a wizard?

Just grabbing a few things: Aden means fire so he could be Cynaden. Or Adenicyn.

Fulk means "people, tribe" so Fulkain could mean of the tribe of the metalsmiths...

(I'm grabbing things from here: 20000-NAMES.COM: Male English Names, Page 3 of 17--meaning, origin, etymology)

Or just make up a few nice-sounding syllables and tack them on, without worrying about meaning.
Herucain, Cainar, Incaintor (that's a little silly, tho), Bascain are all things that sound okay to me.
