Fair enough. Can you give me any advice on a good way to scan or photograph my copy without messing the binding up?

EDIT: And can you recommend an app or program for transforming the scans/photos into a PDF?

There are archival scanners that are made to work at the angle a book opens to. You could ask a major or university library if the have one. Or another organization that focuses on historical works.
