I've been sitting on a couple random ideas for awhile and I'm looking for any advice you all may have in what I can add in to make it better.
Just a quick overview of the plot so far.
Guy in party is given a house by relative out in the wilds
Party heads to semi-nearby town
Party hears of and rescues child from evil
Party is invited to mayors house and offered job to be his leg breakers(because mayor is evil)
Celebration in town
Party partakes of festivities
Party literally runs into mayors rival whos heard of them and wants to meet them.
Mayor Rival has job for them to infiltrate a cult run by a man calling himself Jesus Christ(offensive to some, I think it'd be fun)
Party infiltrates cult and decides to let them live or take them down
Mayor Rival has other jobs ranging from clearing ruins, some trade and escort runs and meeting new races to make peace treaties
- All this stuff is going on while the evil mayor is trying to setup and take down the mayor rival
Eventually Mayor rival is kilt or ousted and thus party is ousted and thrown into jail.
They are given job to clean a clog in the city sewer system but they find some eco-system and end up being flushed out the other end a ways away into a lake.
This they can go back and kill the mayor or move on to better things.
They eventually get a job as bodyguards for an archeaologist who needs to explore the ruins of Bahls Deep.
They find a ritual sacrifice room, someone in party or the archeaologist is cursed from the ritual blade with unluck.
They goto a nearby city and are arrested at a bar for "starting a fight"
during their hearing the courtroom is invaded from townfolks pissed about the judges call on another case. Everyone but the party dies so everyone thinks the party murdered everyone. They are now wanted. They run away, or whatever.
They trek through the woods and meet a nighthag disguised as a person who smells great magic(the curse). She'd trade stuff for some blood from the person.
They find out about the curse and that they need super scrying to see where it originated so they can cleanse it.
They head to a town but they are wanted so they sneak in.
The head city wizard scry's the curse is from a higher level of hell. - DO THEY GO THERE????
Ideally they go there. Eventually lead to the lord in charge who strikes a deal with them. They swap a ritual blade of another cults with one of his so he gains the power from the rituals and its even. No curse.
He sends them to meet the demon who will write the contract which stipulates that two hench demons will pop in time to time to check up on them.
SCREWED UP - THESE GUYS ABOVE ARE DEVILS, NOT DEMONS.
They head back to prime realm and head on their way.
Eventually a disguised demon meets them and offers them a deal to backstab the devil because they are enemies. - WHAT ARE THE TERMS?
Up the palyers if they take the deal. They carry on.
Eventually head back to hell and along the way they've figured out how to kill the devil. SO they do because a dagger they came to get brings the devil to half power OR they made a deal with the demon who floods the realm.
So the devil dies and his realm falls apart and the party has to leave by taking the nearest dimension door out.
They end up on some weird island that a lesser devil has been collecting innocent souls from. Now being the devils realm has collapsed he's trapped here and has started corrupting the area. Party needs to heal this corruption so they can leave the island. The devil has taken the body of the chief and the chief is the only one who knows how to leave so they must figure out how to seperate the two and deal with the devil.
They eventually leave on a magic? boat and figure out the island was in some time out of time and end up just floating around. They have some ocean adventures and end up being taken aboard by a cargo ship heading to the biggest city in the world.
Well they get there and shenanigans ensue, they save the king who was out slumming to see the "real" city who then bequeths them a minor chair on some comity. The king takes in interest in the party because he feels he can't trust others, he has small jobs to do or something. Party explores the town...
Eventually the city is put under seiege by someone from the kings past.
The king doesn't know this person so he travels to time realm with the party and views his past and learns of person.
NOW I WANT TO SAY THE PARTY SHOULD GOTO THE SHADOW PLANE VERSION OF THIS CITY, BUT WHY, WHATS THERE? SOMETHING THE KINGS HIDING THAT KEEPS HIM IN POWER??
So the king can -
1. Send party for re-enforcements for other realms
2. Send party behind enemy lines to wreak havoc
3. control some of the battle forces
4. what other stuff???
Eventually the king and party find out the arc villain is a high priest of the god of destruction and is trying to raise a Terrasque(I forget what they are called at the moment).
Party has to get the blessing from god of destructions rival and is given certain immunites so they can enter the pit of gormuz
Party has to somehow sever the priests ability to feed off the influence the god is giving him.
Party needs to find staff of the god of destruction, take it to him, use it against him - WHICH LEADS TO THE QUESTION HOW WOULD YOU USE IT AGAINST HIM? i'M TRYING TO PICTURE HOW THIS SCENE PLAYS OUT. HOW DO YOU GO UP AGAINST AN IMPRISONED GOD??
Adventures ensue that they need to find the staff and head down the pit of Gormuz which is the god of destructions material plane prison.

That about wraps it up. I'm figuring thats about the end because seriously, where can you go from there that tops that? THe king would give party a seat on council and highest honors blah blah. OR - the king could be killed by traitors looking to steal his throne and now a fight for the throne ensues at which point what do the players do? Leave town, stay and try to claim it? I don't want to much politics honestly cuz I don't think that everyone enjoys it that much.

I'm just looking for any thoughts you may have and wondering how long you think it would take to run? I'm trying for more planes jumping and interesting RP value and the ability to throw different scenarios at the players to keep things fresh.
