Need help making a brawler type fighter

Borthos

First Post
I want to make a brawler for a game I am running, as an NPC to fight, but when i make characters like that, I actually go through character creation and make the character that way (albeit maybe fudging a few things to make him challenging) He's supposed to be like a warrior who grew up on the streets, a Street Fighter, if you will, making use of everything around him as a possible weapon but relying on his fists above all else.
He's gonna be around level 15-17 when fighting the party, and be aided by a high level Alchemist during the fight. He's going to run interference while the alchemist blows everything up.

Any tips?

If he hasn't to be a Fighter (class), but a fighter (description), I would suggest a Monk with the 'Monk of the Empty Hand' alternate class feature from the APG.

Could be an actual fighter. Just fill the power attack and combat expertise line of maneuvers. Dirty Trick, Disarm, Trip, Sunder..

Use some alchemist stuff to make believable use blind as dirty trick. Bull rush them in terrain and traps - adjust the scenario accordingly. An acidic pit made by the Alchemist.

Drag them near a repair to beat them to death. See if you can use again terrain and traps to hamper the players.

Another idea, for a more straight fight, could be a barbarian. Brawler ACF, IUS, power attack, cleave, great cleave, improved overrun.

Rage powers knock back, knockdown, and the onslaught line.

Move, and WHACK! Smash and trip one, smash and bull rush another one away (maybe in the pit trap above). Or just break through the players and put them down. With Charge Trough you could drop one and beat another.

You can use the combo Come and Get me rage power + dazing assault: you make this mess but you end in the middle of the party. They start to beat you.. just to make a fortitude save to avoid be dazed.

These two options could cause enough mess to at least distract the players.. but be careful of control magic.

Check out the feats Catch Off-Guard, Throw anything and Improvised Weapons Mastery.

If you use the APG check out the Monk of the Empty Hand (monk variant) and the Brutal Pugilist (barbarian variant).

A very intersting build would be to combine the two: Start as a Chaotic Barbarian(Brutal pugilist), and later multiclass to Monk of the Empty Hand after switching alignment to Lawful. Sprinkle a few Fighter levels in between if you want to... (with the APG TWF Fighter variant).

APG also introduces new rage powers: the following rage powers complement the brutal pugilist archetype: animal fury*, brawler, greater brawler, knockback*, knockdown, overbearing advance, overbearing onslaught, and strength surge*.

These two options could cause enough mess to at least distract the players.. but be careful of control magic.

Great suggestions but they don't really have control magic. party consists, on average, of a druid 12, Barb 8/druid 4, monk 11/tattoed monk 1 (I am allowing 3.5 classes only if they run it by me first), and a fighter 12. They don't have a whole lot of control magic to deal out, but they have a nice damage potential in the Druid
