need help on DIY spider miniatures

im creating a series of encounters for my players that involve spider-y type stuff. i plan on getting the fake spider web stuff out to create the atmosphere, but i need spider type mini's. i was getting ready to buy several different types of spider miniatures, but it comes out to about $25 total for 10 mini's. while that's not bad, i'm thinking i could shave off a little bit by creating my own spiders. i'm thinking of spiderlings being the main thing, so small spider replicas.

ive got black pipe cleaner, but those will be too big to make spiderlings. i'm wanting to create small ones the size of a dime or so. my first thought was to use copper wire or black electrical wire to wind around and make them, but i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions?

Sounds like a great idea and unfortunately I am not artsy enough to suggest anything tangible.

Pipe cleaners would have been my first guess, however what you need to do is go to your local craft store and throw yourself on the mercy of the assistant. I am sure they have something there you haven't thought of (we went recently with our nephews and the amount of random crap they came out with to stick to paper and make lots of smudgy messes was amazing!)

I second the motion of using the fake toy spiders. It's easy, simple, and best of all, you can actually crush the spider when it dies!
