I am currently stuck in a delema regarding which player to play for a AD&D 3rd that will go until the 20th level (according to the DM). I have discussed both of them with him and stuck trying to work out which one. I am also the first of the group to flesh out a character.
1st Charactor:
1/2 Orc Barbarian. Aka "Kaag"

History:
Raised until around 10 to 13 years old by his human mother (who was inpregnated by an orc during a raid). Then sole surviver of another raid by the same orc clan (a clan that has a rep for being very ferosous and amazing fighters. The sort of clan that other orcs are afraid of messing with any of its members). Then his father id's him and adops him back to his orc family where his spends the rest of his growing up learning the ways of battle. His Father is killed by a powerful wizard (he thinks) to which he vows revenge. his only clue to who this wizard is is a signet ring.
Discription:
He is tall even for a 1/2 orc and very well built. He is covered head to toe in tattoo's that identify him with his infamous clan. Anyone who knows anything about orcs would reconize these tatto's in a moument, but are often then confused by the fact that he is a 1/2 breed.
Personality:
he was born to fight. He will jump at any fight that he thinks he can win (even some that realisticly he has no chance) which happens a lot due to his amazing short fuse.
The big problem that faces Kaag is his mixed background. His is torn between is love of the fight of his orc fathers people and the morals and code of ethics bestowed on him by his mother and her husband. He trusts no-one (plan is that he will eventually trust one member of the group) but those who earn his trust he will die for.
He is also faced with the problem that he hates and loths all magic and its users but knows that one day he will need to learn and trust magic in order to one day drink from the skull of his fathers killer.

(this is best broken into two parts: His Clan and his.
Clan History:
His clan was once the bravest and strongest of all the clans, but it was in a really bad postion (right next to a major orc infested area). There was a great battle, that for some unknown reason the drawfs lost. Fleeing there kingdom, they set anew with the support of the drawfs and a human kingdom. Though heavily weakened, they contined being proud and strong, the true masters of the race. However they where betrayed and wiped out by the orcish armies. Such was the loss to the dravern community that the clans name was stricken from they racial history and forgotten.
However a few did survived the second battle and went into hiding. They now live scattered and ununited. Hiding, fearing percution if their true identity was knowm Only a few important drawfs know of they exsistance. They lay in waiting. They wait for a choosen one to come forth and reunite the forgotten clan and find the lost king and take back what is theirs.

At his berth an event happened (still being worked on by the DM) the declared him the choosen. He is a decendent of the elite guard of the former king. Trained from birth he has been secretly sent out to find his people and thier lost king. He has been sent for in secret fearing is his exsistance was too well known, who would be killed before he had begun.

fairly average looking for a dwarf. Med hieght and build. Pritty standard actually. However his coat of arms on all his weopons (his shield holds the dwarvern gods symbol). On his chest, over his hart, a coat of arms. He is the true dravern soilder.
Personilty:
Although a paladin, he is very quite (except around dwarfs). He is the leader of his people. He is meant to be the appidamy of what a dwarf should be. Strong, tough, deciplined, religous. However he doubts himself. The wieght of a people is heavy upon his shoulders. Any wrong action could spell the end of his clan. he always has doubts. He cannot reveal himself or his mission to anybody except thoughs of the highest rank in dwarvern socity (high priets are the exception who know who he is by the signals they are given by thier gods). The other major flaw is that times have changed. even though the clan was once so strong, they are all but forgotten. normal dwarfs have no clue to who he really is. Some things though have remained the same. The clan is still hunted and reuniting it with a king who no-one knows will not be easy.
