Or perhaps the standard evil necro or priest. Perhaps he is an egyptian priest who died, but whose soul is incomplete. He has his consciousness, but his Ka (I think that's right) is still in the spirit world, and he seeks to draw forth the souls of great people of the past and consume them to bring himself back to  full life, and perhaps immortality.The old heroes may have been warned by a spirit or angelic visitor themselves, or int eh case of the egyptian BBEG, perhaps they were warned by Anubis and/or Osiris to prevent the BBEG from violating the natural order of things.Perhaps they can find some mystical texts that detail or hint at attempts similar to that of the BBEG's, thus leading them to think that all those missing artifact from the museum/church/collection may be linked...just some thoughts as I go back to work <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f61b.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":P" title="Stick out tongue    :P"  data-smilie="7"data-shortname=":P" /></blockquote>
