The artifact is called "The Dark Eye." It is the phylactery of a shadow dracolich named Zurldrezzimnodran. I won't go into the details of how Zurl became a dracolich using the Shadow Weave as oppose to the conventional Cult methods, but I will say this: The Dark Eye resembles an onyx crystal of about fist size. In actuality, the onyx is a piece of concentrated, rock-hard shadow stuff forged by Gond and infused with Shar's essence (such trickery! Poor Gond.) Anyway, when Zurl's soul inhabits the onyx (upon his body's destruction, or at the dracolich's whim) the gem takes on the status of an intelligent item. After adding up the primary, extraordinary abilities, its purpose (slay all those who work Weave magic and those who worship Mystra, Azuth, Velsharoon, Savras, and Corellon-quite a purpose!), its ability modifiers, and it's extra freebies, the item's Ego adds up to 44. Yes, 44. After all, Shar's essence is in here, folks, and she's pretty powerful. At any rate, anyone grabbing the item when the old shadow dracolich's soul is within (making it difficult to locate due to the dormancy of the item when it is "empty") will find themselves completely under the thrall of the mighty undead wyrm. This thing is a lot like Crenshinibon (sp?), or even the One Ring (do I dare compare?) in that not even Elminster would willingly touch it, fearing the draw of power (which is considerable - I'll post it's powers later if you all wish). What I need are some cool means of destruction. I've thought up three, and I'm open for suggestions, revisions, and new ideas. Here they are: -It must be struck by Craftmaster (Gond's personal hammer) under the full light of Selune during the first night of winter (I forget the proper FR names for the seasons) while resting upon a mithril anvil blessed by Mystra or Selune. -It must be disjoined by 5 liches (good, neutral or evil alignment, it matters not), each of whom must have taken Mystra, Azuth, Savras, Velsharoon, and Corellon as their patron. A representative of each faith must cast the disjunction at the same time, and the casting causes an effect similar to a retributive strike. -It must be cast into the positive energy plane. These are only three ideas. I'd like to hear more. Please let me know what you think. My inspiration was Volo's Guide to All Things Magical. Those of you who are familiar with the text might be able to help more. Let me know what you think. If I must, I'll provide more information on the artifact if you wish. Thanks.
