Play something slightly different that you want to play.Other than that, Genasi Swordmage is perfectly fine. Sword Burst is the staple for most swordmages. If you play a Stormsoul, pick a thunder/lightning power or two to use with Promise of Storm, like Booming Blade, and maybe Lightning Clash as an encounter. For feats, Intelligent Blademaster is a good start. For stats, you have some options, be sure post racial, you have at least an 18 intelligence and 16 constitution (18/18, or 20/16 are also perfectly fine).Edit: I'll echo that some allowance to tweak the character as you play is a good idea, particularly since this is your first character. I've played with a lot of beginner players, and there are always rules that are misunderstood at first, or don't work quite the way they thought, or powers/feats that are just complete duds.</blockquote>
