Need help with remembering a show name

It was actually a few shows but they were both set in the sky.

They both were set in flying carriers or something like that. It had sort of steampunk type tech. One had some sort of gang in the sky. The other I just remember a commercial about it being cgi.

Anybody have any idea what I am talking about?

It was animated. Sorry I forgot to say that. And it was a TV show.

Hmm. There is Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water which is kind of like that, but I'm not sure if you'd call it steampunk. Or perhaps Last Exile.

Briscoe County didn't have flying ships...at least not as a standard tech. There may have been an episode featuring a prototype, though.

Could the show in question have been Star Blazers, a.k.a. Space Battleship Yamato?

I think its Storm Hawks, animated and had some CGI with steampunk like planes and a gang of pilots

Though mentioned above, I'm thinking Nadia: Legend of Blue Water and Last Exile (thought it Last Exile didn't have gangs in it).

There are other anime that could fit, so let me ask some questions:

Was the series a war drama? Or did it involve a war?

What did the vehicles look like? Boat styled Airships? Flying modern battle ships? Heli-carriers? Blimps? Stylized "air-planes"? Other?
