I don't have the 3.5 rules, but I do have the 'abridged' rules found in the "Masters of the Wild". What I don't know is, does a druid pick the animal form when they change (within parameters) or do they pick once and that is the only animal that can be used when they wild shape??

How does this effect ther Shifter PrC?

They pick the animal whenever the Wild Shape. They could be a bird one time, then a tiger, then a snake, whatever. As for the Shifter PrC, I don't see why it should make any difference- although I'm not too familiar with that PrC.

Sweet! Thank you for replying.

As for the Shifter, they get to become creatures of various types as they progress (outsider, magical, dragon). I wanted to know if there was leway or if they managed to pick as they changed.

When they get access to a particular type, they get access to any and all creatures of that type which fit any of the other restrictions (size, HD, etc.) which the shifter may have. So they choose the specific form as and when they change.

Exactly.

For example, a Druid starts off with Wild Shape (Animal). Whenever they use their Wild Shape ability, they can choose any animal (within the parameters of the ability) and turn into it. As the Druid advances, it gets more abilities (such as Wild Shape [Elemental]). Each ability opens up a new creature type for the Druid- for example, with Wild Shape (Elemental), a Druid can turn into any elemental (within the parameters of the ability). It sounds to me like the Shifter gets the same kinds of upgrades- Wild Shape (Undead), for example, lets you turn into any Undead you want to (again, within the parameters) whenever you use the ability.
