Need Ideas for a 16th level character Min/Max

Arcanus

First Post
A friend I game with is making some instant DM rules this land type of campaign.

What I mean is This Guy will take a treasure chest and mechanically trap it, secret bottom it, fire trap it, gylph of warding it, have a map in it with explosive runes, and the latest evil thing he did was put a wand of max level burning hands in there along with a magic mouth spouting out the command word on you.

He is NOT afraid of killing you off. He makes up his own magic items to use against you or have you find that are powerful. Oh and if you find them You Can Dang well bet someone is coming to get it back and they don't ask questions first.

He condones min/max because his NPCS are.

I was thinking of a Archer type, maybe a melee combatant with 2 weapons. I don't want a race with level adjustments.
How do I figure out what equipment to take or how much I can have?

Around page 43-45 of the DMG are rules for making characetrs of above 1st elvel, including GP pools for them to buy equipment with. I would suggest spending no more than 25% of your GP on any single item, to avoid possible DM intervention, but the *letter* of the rules doesn't require that.

Wow, a Magic Mouth Sorcerer/Wizard (or Bard/Rogue with Use Magic Device)! :D

At 16th level min/max you should have a high caster level in any one of the major spellcasting classes (they just rule in higher levels).

If you want an archer-type, try a pure Cleric with Persistant Spell!

You know I do appreciate the references and such, but I honestly thought the next time I checked this post that there would be alot more replies.

I thought for sure that there would be alot of character ideas from
everyone who loves to build characters for smack downs etc.....

I can't believe nobody gave any Archer smacks etc....

Well hopefully this thread won't be dead in a couple of days.

Your best bet for getting a 16th level character powerhouse would probably be the Sultans of Smack thread itself. I beleive the characters there are 16th level with appropriate PC wealth.

That may be part of the reason nobody has posted, 16th level min/max has been done to death here.

Here's something you will rarely see: me posting a smackdown. Personally, I have no use for them and a personal disliking of them. However, due to a little insomnia......

MC Ranger 6/Peerless Archer3/Deepwoodsniper 7

I'd take Peerless Archer to third level for the Powershot ability. Deepwoodsniper I'd take to 7th to get the keen arrows and the crit increased to x5. Then Ranger to level 6 (for the Hunter's Mercy spell).

This way you don't have to worry about getting in close for the shot (actually with deepwoodsniper you can fire from 345ft with no range penalty (110 base+ 55 farshot+70 deepwoodsniper ability+110 distance bow)). Use Hunter's Mercy (turns any hit into a crit). Get multi shot feat. Damage could be as much as 1d8+4 (strength for mightybow) +5 (Magical arrows) +5 (Magical bow) +16 (powershot, think powerattack for a bow), all that times five for the critical hit. Or 5d8+100. That's one shot. You can't do it a lot, but when you can it'll hurt.

How's that look? I need to bathe, I feel dirty now :(
