The wolves are not werewolves; just smart wolves in the classic D&D setting alongside all other creatures in the monster manual. I have no new name for this new wolf type, but their just have the same intelligence modifier as warg and the same ability to speak. They have no knowledge of human because they dwell in a DEEP forest. They have conflict with the warg in the surrounding areas and have distrust toward half-wargs (from a wolf parent and a warg parent). But when a mysterious something begins encroaching on their territory and into their woods the keepers of faith (wolf equivalent of the cleric, one with the spirits of their ancestors), begin to insist that someone got and investigate and possible halt the intrusion. This involves ALL wolf a half-warg characters a PCs with specially adapted and altered wolf versions of the classic classes. Dark wolf - warlock (not generally trusted among other wolves) Keeper of Faith - Cleric Aggressor - Fighter Hunter - Ranger Shamanic Shifter - Druid Song Howler - Bard Mystic - Sorcerer Rage wolf - Barbarian Another Hitch I have hit on is defense and damage. I humanoid character can get better armor and better magic weapons and items. Wolves can't use any of this unless assisted with a humanoid creature with opposable thumbs. I may have to lighten up the encounters to keep balance unless I come up with some believable (word used loosely since this is a fantasy setting) method to compensate for this.
