Need Scarred Lands Assistance! (Don't know start point)

I should have just put the Nightfall bat-signal into the sky, but I figured this is the best way to get the quickest response.

I have seen many positive things about the Scarred Lands setting from S&S studios. However, it seems that the info about the setting is spread across multiple sources. What would you say is the ONE single most important setting book, to introduce me to the lands, basic overview of cultures, and the general "hook" of the setting?

The Ghelspad campaign setting (hard back) just came out and is very nice. 250 pages of everything to run a game.

Now the gazette and DM screen will get you going the new book is must have. There is a link here somewhere...

For $5, the Ghelspad Gazeteer. It's what I used, and what hooked me.

For - err - more than $5, the just-hit-the-stores hardback Ghelspad book.

Well glad to see that people were helpful but yes Henry, get the SLCS hardback and the Dm Screen/Companion, are all you really need. After that, pick and choose.

What about Relics and Rituals or the Creature Collections..or would I just be better of getting the hardbound book? I snagged Hollowfast and the Gazeteer, and I can get one more possibly and I'm stuck between CC1 and 2, RR, and the new Ghelspad book.

Well since you have Hollowfaust already, and the Gaz, I'd recommend R&R. Mainly to help with your spell choice and also to help with magic items. CC2 is probably a better choice if you need to add a few monsters, especially with the Sutak being so close and all. Realistically, if you can only afford one more, I'd say R&R. The CCs add something but nothing you can deal without IF you've got Hollowfaust and the Gaz. The only thing I'd say about the SLCS, is that it's great book on expanding the history and the geography of Ghelspad.

I didn't like CC2. I thought CC1 was better.

Of course, I *really* liked Hollowfaust. Infact, I'm going to use that in my own campaign the next time I start a new campaign (either Hollowfaust, or a fantasy Mafia game).

R&R, I fully support. The prices for magical items is on S&SS's website.

Now, I'm wanting more info on the Carnival of Shadows.

That's going to be a while Xarlen, since they will be done in much greater detail in the Termana Gaz and other products, which probably WON'T be out until some time in 2003, I imagine. But R&R2 should be available in August/September of this year. I'll let know any dates when I get any info.

I have nothing but love for BOTH, since I favor both the High Gorgons, the Hags AND things like Blade Demons as well as Iron Devils. But I always feel it's a matter of choice in some ways, but hey, you enjoy what you like Xarlen, that's all I care about!

I love Hollowfaust. I'd love to run a couple campaigns there, especially when I get my paws on Wilderness and Wasteland. Definately will be a fun mix there!
