Let's see... To sum up the post right above yours, 1. The Monk's Belt grants you the AC of a monk of 5th level. Evidence: "If the character is not a monk, she gains the AC and unarmed damage of a 5th-level monk. This AC bonus functions just like the monk’s AC bonus." 2. The Monk's AC bonus works as follows: When unarmored and unencumbered, the monk adds her Wisdom bonus (if any) to her AC. In addition, a monk gains a +1 bonus to AC at 5th level. 3. Therefore, the monk's belt allows you to add your Wisdom bonus to AC. 4. This position is supported by the FAQ, which states that: "Does a monk’s belt (DMG 248) grant a non-monk wearer his Wisdom bonus to AC? Yes. Note, however, that the wearer gains the AC bonus only when unarmored and unencumbered, since the belt clearly states that “this AC bonus functions just like the monk’s AC bonus.” Calm down. There is no need to get hysterical. You are arguing that the Monk's Belt should not grant Wis to AC from a game balance perspective, not a rules perspective. With all due respect, you were arguing that the rules did not allow it, and the argument that "It's unbalanced" does nothing to help your case. Now, your first augment is that it would be too cheap. Would you kindly look at the Dusty Rose Ioun Stone? It is a slotless (meaning that, by the magic item creation guidelines, it costs twice as much as a slotted item) that grants +1 insight bonus to AC for 5,000 gp. Therefore, we can extrapolate that the worth of a slotted item that grants a +1 insight bonus to AC is worth 2500 gp. The Monk's Belt is worth 13,000 gp. I cannot mathematically prove to you in the space allotted that 2,500 is a smaller value than 13,000 as the full proof would take several pages, but I think we can agree that 2,500 is less. So, what does the 10,500 extra grant? Better unarmed damage, and more uses of Stunning Fist per day if you have the feat. Whether that is enough to justify the extra cost is debatable. Even if the Monk's Belt is under priced for the benefit it gives, it still gives that benefit. Whether it should is a different argument than whether it does, and all available evidence suggests that it does. Next, you seem to have a fear that people will abuse adding mental stats to AC, but all items you proposed to do so would be custom items. There are no rules on making custom items, only guidelines that heavily depend on the DM. There's no obligation to allow a custom item of +Cha to AC into a game. Check, your move.
