Hellsing: Did you like Bebop and Vampire Hunter D? Then you'll like this. A slick, stylish vampire blasting series, great design and cast. Alucard (NOT ARUCARD!) and Paladin Andersong are great characters. The dub is very well done too. Trigun: So damn entertaining! Sci-fi western gunslinging with one of the strangest heroes ever. The second half also features one of the most creepy villains I've seen to date in Legato Bluesummers. Azumanga Daioh!: "I am not a cat. I am Chiyo-Chan's father!" Filby's description of it as a hybrid of Peanuts and Seinfeld is right on the money. I love this series to bits. Haibane Renmei: Nothing is happening, and yet I can't look away. yoshitshi ABe's work can be an acquired taste (tehXnolyze, anyone?), and this is no exception. A town that is literally nowhere, inhabited by both humans and flightless angelic beings, the Haibane. Not much seems to happen, you'll be left with questions, but sit back and enjoy the view. I know I did. Ruroni Kenshin: Don't listen to Zog, watch all three seasons (Wandering Samurai, Legend of Kyoto, Tales of the Meiji), as well as "Trust" and "Betrayal", the first two OAVs. Legend of Kyoto is BY FAR the best one, but its worth watching season 3 so you can understand the third OAV, "Reflections". Just don't blame me for how you feel after Reflections, OK. Slayers (series): The antidote to Berserk. Its like a D&D campaign gone HORRIBLY wrong, spells need to be negotiated with, everyone's chaotic stupid, wants money, and there's never enough to eat. I fell off the couch in hysterics the first time I watched it. To describe Lina Inverse as the queen of overkill is an understatement. For movies, ANYTHING from Ghibli. Especially Nausicaa and Porco Rosso, then Princess Mononoke. I don't care if you've already seen it! And Beserk does indeed rock.
