Need story ideas!!!

I am entering a writing contest where the main theme is dragons/sci-fi. I have a basic plot in my mind, but I need ideas!!!In the name of all that is good and holy GIVE THEM TO ME!!!!!!!!

Story ideas for something like this are hard. I suggest writing about what you know. How are you feeling today? When was the last time you had some intense emotions? Write about that.

Kinda took it from a movie i saw. Girl from this world summoned to a different world where the people have been devided and are at war. She is the key to unlocking an ancient power. Both sides want it, and she must fight a battle within herself to determine the fate of this world. Not all of it's from the movie, but am I evil for taking the main idea and changing things?

Not at all. Steal as much as you can. Shakey is a good source.

The main plot is pretty basic - is it about you in any way? Try and work yourself into the plot and the character's motivations. It'll seem more real that way, I think.

Hmmm...let me put on thinking cap for a second:

1) Dragons as sentient starships manned by humans or perhaps even a dragonoid race.

2) Race of dragonoid aliens fighting a race of felinoid aliens over a planet they thought was void of sentient life. However, the scouts from each race find the planet has primitive humans.

Think about this:

What do dragons represent to you? What do they mean to you? What are they? nuts and bolts, down to the basics. Are they power? love? fertility? strength? transcendance?

Anyways, write what you feel. Sci-fi will come just as a side-effect.

Dragons in sci-fi, hmmm...

War with secret to end in little girl, hmmmm...

The world was set up with the dragons as some sort of caretakers or guardians by a race that specializes in embedding its technology in genetic codes leading to dragons as engines of politics and war and certain humans as couriers from their will. They also know how to teleport these living structures or insert new magic and 'software' through biological viruses.

The dragons are kind of broken now, however, and don't know how to deal with the war.

In the search for orders/inspirationd from the creator race or group, the dragons summon this girl and misplace her.

The girl actually does have the capacity to solve the crisis, unfotunately the dragons niether know how she can do this or where she is and the villain knows both of these things.

The actual factions in the war have a very limited idea of what is going on and very different spins on the actual nature of the dragons and the villain. Spins that force the villain to behave a little bit better.
