Need to pick some brains

Brains! Brains!
Nope, not a zombie here, just someone who needs information and ideas for an adventure I'm writing. I'm working on a Pulp adventure for our local living style pulp campaign, and I need a few things.

First of all I need our Brit compatriots to give me some data about places in or around London. I've only been there once, and I don't remember squat.

What I need in this regard is:
What would be a reasonable district of London to use as a place where there are a lot of warehouses back in the 30s?

Ok, on to the more generally answerable questions.
If you know of any riddles which have an ancient Egyptian background, please pass them along.

Also, what would be a good analogy for "Getting to the center" which is not obivous, and would be valid in an ancient Egyptian context. I had been thinking eye of the storm, but that type of weather pattern doesn't hit Egypt as far as I know.

Any help will be well appreciated.

maybe "the devils heart" but have it be a dust devil?

nice, eerie tone:)

Actually what I need is some sort of inscription to be found on the wall of a maze in Hieroglyphics which will lead a party towards the center. I have the encounters figured out, I just need to get them there. Though a small air elemental dust devil ain't a bad idea for scaring the pants off a bunch of Indianna Jones wannabees.

Well, the center of Egyptian civilization is the Pharoah or God-King - the world essentially revolves around them. Perhaps that could be used as an analogy. That and the nile seem to be the two main "centers" of egyptian life.

The center of the eye could also refer to the Eye of Horus.
