Ok, Some DVD games don't get read by my DVD drive. They just spin in the drive, not getting read. I did some checking and found out I have to update my firmware. I have no idea how to tell what kind of DVD drive I have, ect. I have a HP Pavillion 734n desktop PC. I can't get any info on firmware. Can anyone help?

Here you go...

There's a couple DVD drives listed for that model, so you'll probably have to open your case and see what you've got. There will be a sticker label on it somewhere.

Once you know which model you have, you may also be able to check the drive makers site to see if they have anything more recent than HP has posted.

(If you have a OEM PC, the best bet for things like these is to hit the OEM's site and search. I just went to hp.com and searched for "734n firmware". The above was the second result.)

Have you tried (I am assuming you are operating with a Windows OS) going into Device Manager? If not, go into control panel - system - click on the Hardware tab and then click on Device Manager. There you will find a listing of all your hardware components. It should give you a description of your DVD drive under CD-Rom/DVD drives.
