Net of Shadows

Hey all,

I have been looking around at Beguiler builds, and I see that often the first advancment spell is " Net of Shadows".
I just want to make sure I understand the spell correctly:
you cast it on others to effectively blind them (they can only see 5 feet...so farther than that, they are blinded type of thing) and they have concelement (this is the 20% kind right? not the 50% kind....???). Basically that means that you shoot at them with a 20% miss chance and they can't see you if you are at a distance...right? :\

Is that how it works, or is it that they have total concelment if they are more than 5 feet away from *you or antoher player*? therefore if you are at more than 5 feet from them, you have a 50% miss chance....

Which is right?? Any other uses for the spell?

Thanks Alot!

Correct. It's 20%.

Correct. If you are adjacent to them, they have only a 20% miss chance.

No. You only have a 20% miss chance, however far you are from them.

See above.

Off the top of my head, protection from rogues. They can't sneak attack anything with concealment.
