Hi all! Over at RPGnet, the weekly comic books get a discussion thread in Tangency. I thought it might be fun to have one over here as well. :D So what comics did you get this week? I got: Dr. Fate #3: A decent read. Lots of action as Salem gets all apocalyptic. Fallen Angel #4: Another horror comic. I'm a fan of Peter David's work, but this comic isn't doing it for me. The main plotline is interesting, but the pacing is way too slow. The Demon: Driven Out #2: Third horror comic from DC. I'm liking it so far. It's a big departure from the normal Jason Blood/Etrigan story-type. It's very violent though. It should be a mature reader comic. 1602 #3: A solid read. Gaiman's writing is smooth and elegant, The art is beautiful and evocative of the setting. The pacing is leisurely. I'm not passionate about this title, but I find it to be a pleasant read. Iron Man #73: A new direction and creative team! I was highly skeptical about the "Tony Stark as Secretary of Defense" storyline; I still am. However, though the plot may be waek, I think that the new writer has an excellent handle on the character. A good story in spite of the weak premise. (Obligatory IM fan complaint: I hated the new armor!!) ;) Walking Dead #1: Survivalist horror is a interesting subject to explore. This issue sets up the premise. It introduces the main character and setting. Not a gripping story, but an effective immersion point into the storyline. Its got my interest. Art was decent but B&W is a bit of a disappointment. Feather #2: A fun read, pretty artwork, and amiable characters. This title has potential, but so far its content is sweet fluff, like cotton candy. I have hopes for next issue, but I can't say that I'm excited. Aria: The Uses of Enchantment #4: A wonderfully poignant issue. The whole thematic exploration of escapism and denial comes to a dramatic conclusion this issue. I really liked this title; it's probably my favorite Aria storyline yet. The art, as usual, was gorgeous. Well, that's it for now. Thanks for reading. :) ---Merova
